Being a "Super" Great Teacher and Friend

I enjoy teaching.

It started many years ago while I was working for a large corporation as an Info Tech (IT) Admin. I loved working with computers and enjoyed building desktop systems as a hobby. My enthusiasm for helping others with computer problems led me to teach a few basic computer classes to my fellow co-workers. MS-DOS, Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, etc. (Is my age showing now?)

Now, I am teaching the basics of sewing. It seems appropriate since sewing is my all-time favorite hobby.

I received a really nice surprise on the last day of my sewing class. One of my sewing students, Gloria, had given me a dressform pincushion (pictured here). I was estatic to receive such a wonderful gift and it is proudly displayed on my sewing desk. In her note, she thanked me for being a "super" great teacher and friend. Words cannot express how that touched my heart. That is why I love to teach.

I dressed up my new pincushion by adding a necklace and a belt with my pins. Too bad they don't make rhinestone head pins. Can you imagine the bling on this pincushion?

BTW, I am still intrigued with computer technology and my two sewing machines are computerized.

(Kat-a big thank you for helping me figure out how to post my pictures...you're the best!)

(Gloria-if you happen to stumble on this post...remember to keep sewing...and thank you for being such a wonderful student)

Happy Sewing!

LOL! If your age is showing, so is mine :) . I used to teach high school and college students file management with DOS and computer apps with Word Perfect and Lotus 123. Being home with my kids, however, has done nothing for my technical know-how these days.
